WELCOME NOTE FROM THE AMBASSADOR

Dear Visitors,

I warmly welcome you to the official website of the Embassy of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea to the Republic of India. I am honoured to serve as the 1st Ambassador of Equatorial Guinea to India and strengthen already warm and friendly relations between both countries, dating back to pre-independence era of Equatorial Guinea in 1968.

With the recent high-level state visits between both the countries and fostering our excellent relations with the beautiful host country India our mutual relationship become even stronger in last one year and is founded on a solid platform, as well as guided by the same ideals of democracy, pluralism, human rights, and the rule of law. The President of Equatorial Guinea, Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo visited India for the first time in October 2015 to attend the Third India Africa Summit and for the second time in March 2018 to attend ISA Solar Summit. Equatorial Guinea was also a first country that the President of India Ram Nath Kovind visited during his first official visit to Africa in April 2018.

India’s relationship with Equatorial Guinea is characterised by the strong partnership in the oil and gas sector. Equatorial Guinea is the fourth largest supplier of natural gas to India. Economic and commercial relations between India and Equatorial Guinea, have been growing in the last few years, primarily due to its emergence as an important source of oil and other energy products. Main items of India’s exports to Equatorial Guinea are food products, cereals, meat, pharmaceuticals, machinery, apparel etc. Main items of India’s imports from Equatorial Guinea are oil & gas, timber.

The Embassy is committed to strengthen and boost bilateral and multilateral relations promoting Equatorial Guinea as one of the best investment, tourism, as well as business destination for Indians in Africa. Together with my able team here at the Embassy, I will spare no effort to make substantial contribution to bring closer Equatorial Guinea to the Indian nation. It is an essential component of my work to promote investment in Equatorial Guinea and help to facilitate trade and commerce – there are indeed vast untapped opportunities for investment in agriculture, livestock, fisheries, mining, petrochemistry, transport tourism, just to mention a few.

It is my anticipated hope that this website offers you a window of opportunity to better understand our country which soon I hope will your destination whether for leisure or business.

Sincerely,

Mr. Manuel Mbela Bama Ndong
