The presentation of the donation took place at the headquarters of the Ministry for Education, University Teaching and Sports. The meeting took place between the Vice Prime Minister of the Government and Minister for Education, University Teaching and Sports, Clemente Engonga Nguema Onguene, and the Ambassador from the People’s Republic of China to Equatorial Guinea,
Experts from the Ministry for Health and Social Welfare, in collaboration with the Baney Laboratory, began, on Monday 16th June, the mass testing for Coronavirus in the Malabo population, with the aim of determining the current state of the spread of the pandemic.
Thanks to the donation of half his salary for the month of April by the Equatorial Guinea Ambassador in Brussels, Carmelo Nvono-Ncá, the Embassy in Brussels has been able to proceed with the distribution of protective health equipment, such as gloves, face masks and hydroacoholic disinfectant gel, to the Equatoguinean colony residing in the Belgian city of Liege.
The President of the Republic, Head of State and Government, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, has issued a message to the population, regarding the raising of the measures of restriction against the Coronavirus Pandemic, the fourth message from the head of State since the detection of the first case of coronavirus in the city of Malabo, in March, which led to the Government taking a series of containment and prevention measures for the protection of the health of the people.
The recently appointed Equatorial Guinea Ambassador before the Government of the Republic of Cameroon, Armando Kote Echuaka, presented credentials on 10th June.
The presentation took place on 8th June, at the headquarters of the Ministry for Health and Social Welfare. The Indian Ambassador was responsible for the presentation to the Secretary of State for Health, representing the Vic-Minister for Health, as he could not attend the event.
On 8th June, a new shipment of material donated by the Chinese Government to the Government of Equatorial Guinea to combat COVID-19 arrived in Malabo. The Chinese Ambassador to Equatorial Guinea, Qi Mei, the Adviser from the Embassy, Su Jianguo, the Secretary of State from the Ministry for Health and Social Welfare, José Ntutumu Edu Nchama, and the Secretary of State from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Pedro Nguema Ndong, attended the presentation ceremony at Malabo International Airport.
On the morning of 9th June, in Riaba, a district on the province of Bioko Sur, the Equatorial Guinea Red Cross installed water cisterns for hand-washing being put in place by the US Embassy, UNDP, UNICEF and the Constancia Mangue Nsue Okomo Foundation in the fight against COVID-19.
