UNDP extends fight against Coronavirus in Equatorial Guinea

On the morning of Tuesday 222nd September, the First Lady of the Nation, Constancia Mangue de Obiang, granted an audience to Elsie Laurence Chounoune, United Nations Development Programme Resident Representative in Equatorial Guinea. During the audience, which took place at the People’s Palace in Malabo, the international official wished the First lady a belated happy birthday for 20th August.

Constancia Mangue de Obiang and Elsie Laurence Chounoune congratulated each other effusively on the excellent relations between the UNDP and the Government of H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, in which support for the most vulnerable layers of society and the fight against Coronavirus were the focus of attention for the two parties.

As such, the UNDP Resident Representative announced the purchase of two robots to be installed at Malabo and Bata airports in order to fight Covid-19 in Equatorial Guinea, among other measures.

Chounoune also reported the creation of a youth centre in Malabo for October, where young people will be able to take a closer look at new technologies.

The last meeting between Mangue de Obiang and Elsie Laurence took place on Tuesday 4th February, at the People’s Palace in Malabo.
